The Department of Community Planning, Housing and Development (CPHD) is hiring an Elevator Program Supervisor to join its award-winning Inspection Services Division on the Code Enforcement team! The Elevator Program Supervisor will oversee the Elevator Inspection Program including permit administration support staff as well as contracted and WMATA elevator inspectors to ensure inspection work is performed and standards are met.
Specific duties include:
- Managing elevator inspection caseload, including scheduling, and assigning cases/work, providing guidance to inspectors on work performance, and addressing concerns;
- Managing operations to enforce the Virginia Statewide Building Code and other local ordinances relative to the installation and/or maintenance of conditions at existing properties;
- Inspecting new and existing installations located in businesses, public spaces, and buildings for conformance with laws, ordinances, and standard practices;
- Reviewing plans on new installations and construction, including consulting with architects, elevator/escalator companies, building engineers and managers, additions to existing installations, and modernizations to existing installations;
- Responding to emergencies and investigating accidents and complaints which includes inspecting the scene, gathering, and analyzing information, and preparing accident reports; and
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field; and
- Considerable experience in elevator or escalator installations, maintenance, and/or inspections.
Substitution: Additional qualifying experience can be substituted for the educational requirement.
