Are there any localities requiring a permit to swap out a propane tank,same size, same location, different supplier. If you are requiring a permit,please give the code section you are using.
I can see by the overall response that this is one issue thats not covered by the uniform statewide building code. I will assume you are at the mercy of each locality.
Have you thought that perhaps you got the answer you wanted by the silence. The code exempts the changing of tanks same size,location. See section 108.2 #9 of the USBC. the change does have to be by the provider.
You asked if a jurisdiction was requireing a permit…..apparently nobody is.The reason I asked the question is, I was told by a reputable contractor that there ARE localities that require permits.
