We are looking at the possibility of three large solar farms coming to our area. We currently have no fee specifically for commercial solar farms and was curious as to how other jurisdictions may have established a fee.
We base it on estimated cost. $6 per $1,000 of the estimated cost. The fees will be high for large commercial solar farms, but the amount of work including plan review and inspections will be high as well. We have also discussed requiring special inspections or 3rd party inspections. The frequency and number of inspections for large commercial solar farms can easily exceed the staffing levels of many departments.
