Does your jurisdiction require a permit and inspections for an exterior( outdoor) stand alone masonry fireplace where the fireplace is not near combustible buildings or structures?
No,County of Floyd
For a non-residential installation, absolutely. We want to ensure public safety is considered during its design and intended operation as well as evaluate the activity and use it is being introduced into.
For residential installations, no, unless it exceeded the 6′ threshold height exemption for masonry walls. Above 6′ we want to address any fall hazards and potentially identify any load bearing concerns.
