Is there a set of building codes to be enforce with in VA for Docks and Boat-houses on the welter that do not meet a safe building standard?
As it is, a home owner is complaining about pour workmanship from there contractor and would like to have us look in to it for them.
Is this something we should be enforcing?
If not, who should we be referring them to with in the local or federal Gov?
The USBC states a permit is required for the construction of a building or structure. A good standard for piers, docks, etc is the Southern Pine Marine Construction Guide.
A permit should have been obtained in relation to the home owner’s complaint.
