DHCD and Arlington County have collaborated to offer a webinar forum focused on the experiences and challenges now facing the property maintenance officials during this pandemic.
On March 30, 2020, Governor Northam issued a Temporary Stay at Home Order mandating social distancing, the cessation of all unnecessary travel, restriction on public gathers, closing of all public facilities other than those defined as Essential until June 10, 2020. The Governor’s Orders, issued as a matter of Public Health, have had an impact on inspection operations and expectations for compliance within localities. While these orders affect government operations at every level, especially challenged are the Officials charged with the enforcement of the Virginia Maintenance Code and other various locally adopted property codes.
Property Maintenance Officials were recently invited to participate in a survey regarding their specific experiences and the challenges they are facing during the Coronavirus 19 Pandemic. The information collected will be used to identify issues for discussion and the development of best practices.
Arlington County’s Property Maintenance Official, Gary Greene, and Michelle Coward, City of Richmond Operations Manager for the Property Maintenance Code Enforcement, will be presenting the survey results and facilitating or leading the round table discussions. Property Maintenance Officials and their functional leads are invited to join us in these discussions of their current experiences and best practices.
