Our VBCOA position on the Building Code Academy Advisory Committee (BCAAC) has recently become vacant and needs to be filled. The purpose of BCAAC is to advise the Board of Housing and Community Development (BHCD) on activities of the Jack A. Proctor VA Building Code Academy (JPVBCA) as it relates to training and certification based on stakeholder needs. Additionally, BCAAC provides the JPVBCA ongoing feedback and input regarding its current projects and activities, as well as future initiatives. BCAAC is comprised of members from each code organization as well as other stakeholder groups impacted by the training and certification of the code enforcement personnel in Virginia. BCAAC meets an average of two to three times a year with a periodic teleconference meeting based on need. Our BCAAC position also is a member of the VBCOA Board of Directors and works very closely with the VBCOA Education Committee Chair(s) to implement training endeavors across our regions and state.
Anyone interested in representing VBCOA on the BCAAC should submit a letter of interest and resume to Sean Farrell at sf******@pw****.org no later than July 5th. Letters of interest should include a brief summary of your code enforcement and development experience and history, your background in education, instruction, curriculum development, and any other pertinent information you believe is relevant to the responsibilities of this very important position. The VBCOA Nominations Committee will review all applications received and forward their recommendations to the VBCOA Board of Directors for consideration at the July 29th meeting.
